Of Webcomics

I love comics. Manga, graphic novels, pulp, superheros and Lovecraftian horrors. From "Get Fuzzy" to "Walking Dead", I love comics. I first got into comics with the manga "Hellsing" The fucked up, blood orgy of a secret organization who's mission was to kill vampires. Then I strayed to other manga. Trigun, Samurai Champloo, Trinity Blood, I was immersed into the crazy world of anime and manga. Then one day, I noticed something; Shit be expensive. So I stayed away from it, starting to save up for Warhammer 40k, a hobby which, sadly at the time, would be a black hole for a wasted 250$. Years passed, puberty slowly came to an end, and I found two things, things that would ignite a new passion; Penny Arcade, and "Essex County". Jeff Lemire's masterpiece "Essex County" was, and still is, one of the best told, and oldest stories. The importance of family, the connections we all share, and the twisted experience of growing up, put to letter and ink.   Penny Arcade introduced me to the already giant webcomic phenomenon. The same material you get in the funny papers, but free and more profane. That, and those three panel, three day a week, gags got me through some depressing times. The fusion of Essex County's poetic tale, and the Satan spawned humor of Penny Arcade, led me to where I am now; A lazy, young, dark, amateur cartoonist, shoveling through the shit until I get where I want to be; The top of the mountain.
